Introduction
Probha Aurora is a socially conscious and youth-centered enterprise dedicated to fostering ethical behaviors, sustainability, and environmental awareness among teenagers and young adults in Bangladesh. Our mission is to empower young individuals to embrace ethical values and respond effectively to environmental and climate change challenges. We provide sustainable life skills, career-building opportunities, digital access, and connect them to environmental networks. Our primary focus areas include awareness creation, research, sustainability promotion, youth skill development, and eco-friendly products and practices.
In line with our mission, we have launched 'Sabuj Sathi,' an Eco-Friendly Center in Bangladesh, pioneering the promotion of a low-carbon lifestyle through eco-friendly alternatives for daily necessities. This proposal seeks collaboration opportunities to further develop and expand the Sabuj Sathi program.
Program Rationale
Climate change is a pressing global issue, with real and immediate consequences. Carbon emissions from daily activities in homes and workplaces contribute significantly to this problem. Sustainable living is vital, but in light of climate, biodiversity, and pollution crises, it is essential to define these actions and ensure their adoption. Sabuj Sathi aims to raise awareness and consciousness among the public while highlighting locally produced climate-friendly alternatives.
Ongoing research is being conducted to refine the definition of "eco-friendly products" within the scope of our program, ensuring that we are aligning with the most up-to-date and comprehensive standards in the field.
The products offered at Sabuj Sathi include wooden and clay items (utensils, decor, and stationery), jute products, safe food, plants, and fertilizers made from recycled bio-waste. These products are carefully selected to minimize carbon emissions during their production, ensuring improved quality of life, reduced mortality, and a healthier population. Sabuj Sathi also promotes plantations that have a positive impact on the climate. The center adheres to strict standards for safe and hygienic food products.
Our goal is to transform consumption patterns, leading to a significant reduction in carbon emissions associated with consumption-based activities. We aim to replicate this model nationwide and inspire other businesses to follow our lead in reducing their carbon footprint.
